Fundraising at Local Festivals

Volunteering at Local Festivals is a Fundraiser for Scholarships

  • Each September, the City of Chippewa Falls celebrates Oktoberfest at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.  Members of the AAUW Chippewa Falls Branch volunteer at the Wine Booth or Beer Tent and are given a stipend for their help.
  • Other local festivals such as the Northern Wisconsin State Fair and Springiest give stipends to organizations such as AAUW to check ID’s for wristbands.
  • The Branch has used the money earned from helping at festivals to provide scholarships.   The scholarships have allowed girls to attend the  STEPS Camp  at the University of Wisconsin-Stout (Science, Technology, Engineering Preview Summer).
  •  In addition, the Branch has provided a scholarship to a woman attending Chippewa Valley Technical College.
  • AAUW Chippewa Falls Branch has also provided materials for the Kids Who Code (formerly Girls Who Code) program at the local schools.
  • Earnings at the festivals also allowed the Branch to donate hygiene products, or money for that purpose, to the Chippewa Falls School District.  The High School nurse was in charge of distributing the products where needed, from elementary to high school.
