Education Group’s Focus is Title IX

• After a study of current educational issues at the National and State AAUW levels, the Education group chose to focus on Title IX in 2016.  The group met with staff members responsible for Title IX in the Chippewa Falls School District to discuss the status of Title IX in the district. The group will continue to monitor national and state educational issues to determine their next focus.
• In addition to delivering the AAUW National Title IX materials, the group determined where Chippewa Falls AAUW might be able to assist with ensuring that young women are given opportunities and encouraged to participate in courses and activities related to sciences, engineering, technology and mathematics.  
• From that discussion, the Education group was able to recommend to our local branch that a contribution be made to assist with transportation of the selected students to Badger Girls State. We established a contact with the schools, Angie Stokes  , Career and Technical Educational Coordinator, to continue the Title IX dialogue in the future.
• The Education group decided to develop an AAUW  Chippewa Falls Branch website.  The website will improve communication about AAUW issues and activities.  We invite our branch members and new members to utilize our website.
